MathAmaze
Mitacs MathAmaze: is a free, online, multiplayer mathematics quiz game aimed at elementary and high school students. With questions at every grade level from math contests across Canada, MathAmaze allows players to challenge themselves and develop their math skills with questions tailored to their skill level.
MathAmaze has a variety of uses:
- A engagement tool for teachers to foster problem solving and math communication amongst their students;
- A learning tool for students to become proficient in mathematics using a medium they are drawn to – online games;
- A selection tool that encourages students to be inspired to strive for excellence in mathematics.
As an on-line game, MathAmaze has been played by thousands of high-school students and teachers across Canada. The feedback is that this game is at the same design level as popular commercial games giving it mass appeal. It is currently being developed to include the WNCP mathematics curriculum content to allow teachers to use it as a formative assessment tool.
