The simple truth is that people who present well in front of groups are far more likely to succeed at captivating, persuading and inspiring others, and are generally perceived as better leaders. In summary, one’s ability to present will help determine their success in business.

In this one-day workshop, theory is introduced in short bursts, and participants spend the majority of time practicing their presentation skills and receiving onsite feedback. The focus on extensive practice and feedback is what makes the program meaningful, and is what makes the learning stick.

Learning Outcomes

Impromptus with Impact 

• Learning Objective: Create a memorable introduction
• Self-Introduction. Each person introduces himself or herself
• State name, job, and reason for taking course. The first sentence cannot contain the words “I, me, my,” or the person’s name

Building a Presentation That Works

• Learning Objective: Understand the main elements of a short speech
• Understanding your audience 
• The Introduction
• Main body, including 3 or 4 key points
• Elements to include (story, examples, statistics, analogies, etc.)
• Conclusion
• Practice Session: Compose a speech based on notes prepared beforehand. Deliver it and obtain feedback.

Gestures and Body Talk 

• Learning Objective: Learn how gestures can amplify delivery
• Amplifying your speech through body talk and gestures
• Practice session: Communicating gestures from phrases written on cards

Answering Questions 

• Learning Objective: Understand and practice a number of techniques for handling tough questions.
• What the audience expects, plus techniques for gaining time, clarifying, deflecting, etc.
• Practice Session: Fielding questions from the audience
